President-elect Donald Trump on Friday intervened in the Supreme Court case that ultimately could decide whether a federal ban on TikTok occurs.

The request came as TikTok and the Biden administration filed opposing briefs to the court.

President-elect Donald Trump asked the Supreme Court Friday to pause a potential U.S. ban on TikTok from taking effect. In his brief, he said he said he wants to delay the ban in order to give time for his incoming administration to "pursue a negotiated resolution."

Trump said the court should give him time after his Jan. 20 inauguration to seek a negotiated resolution of the dispute.

The Supreme Court is scheduled to hear arguments in the case on Jan. 10. The law is currently set to take effect Jan. 19, one day before President-elect Donald Trump is sworn in.
