President-elect Donald Trump announced Wednesday that he intends to nominate cryptocurrency advocate Paul Atkins to chair the Securities and Exchange Commission.

President-elect Donald Trump has nominated former Securities and Exchange Commissioner Paul Atkins to replace current SEC Chairman Gary Gensler after he leaves the position on Jan. 20.

The president-elect announced his plans to nominate Atkins, calling him "a proven leader for common sense regulations."
